Draw the eye with the winter to spring flowering prowess of Hellebore 'Double Ellen'. A mix of big, ruffled, and speckled double blooms, each unique, as these have come from seed. Perfect for brightening the garden while others are still slumbering, they will also make a great accompaniment to spring bulbs, and although they are dainty to look at, they are incredibly tough whatever the weather. Their cup-shaped blooms provide a valuable nectar source for early pollinators and are a favourite with bees. So easy to grow, they will slowly establish into small clumps, increasing in number year after year - it is not uncommon to have upwards of 50 flowers after around five years. They will thrive out of direct sun, as they prefer to grow in rich, well-drained soil in dappled shade. Hellebores are essentially a woodland plant, so love soil that is humus-rich and moist.
