Latin name

Viburnum opulus Roseum

Viburnum opulus 'Roseum' can be pruned as a tree or shrub and is a resilient, versatile viburnum which produces clusters of lime green buds in May. These buds open into large, spherical heads bearing masses of snowy-white flowers which last through to July each year. Blooms are then followed by red berries in late summer or early autumn which, although not suitable for human consumption, are a delicacy for birds and other wildlife. Foliage is verdant and emerges before the flowers in March, remaining until late autumn - when it takes on purple tones prior to dropping for the winter. Excellent planted 'en masse' as hedging, or in a container as a focal point in the garden. Viburnum opulus, 'Roseum' is happy in any type of soil and is unfussy on aspect too. Prefers a spot in full sun or partial shade with moist, well drained, fertile soil. Grows to a maximum height and spread of 5m - easily pruned to reduce size according to your needs. A hardy, deciduous shrub or tree.
