Viburnum plicatum f. tomentosum 'Kilimanjaro Sunrise' is an exceptional cultivar of this beloved species. It features beautiful lacecap blooms that emerge in late spring, displaying white petals with a delicate pink blush. These flowers are complemented by clusters of striking blood-red berries that eventually ripen to black. The heart-shaped leaves adorn the plant's distinctive, horizontally tiered branches. In autumn, the foliage transforms into vibrant shades of orange and red, providing a stunning burst of color in woodland areas and borders. This cultivar was honored with the prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower Show Plant of the Year award in 2015. Height: 3 m (10 ft). Spread: 1.5 m (5 ft)
Growing Information:
Plant Viburnum in a sunny or semi-shaded location, using moderately fertile, well-drained soil. Before planting, mix in plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost. Set the Viburnum shrubs at the same depth as they were in their pots, backfill the planting hole, and water thoroughly to settle the soil.
