SKIMMIA PLANT - The Skimmia Japonica Fragrans also commonly known as Skimmia Fragrant Cloud is an evergreen shrub with thick glossy dark green elliptic leaves. Panicles of green buds form in Autumn through to Winter with white fragrant pollen rich flowers opening in the Spring, loved by bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects. This long lasting shrub is ideal for growing in a pot or container or for filling gaps in garden borders. GROWING - Skimmia Fragrant Cloud is a tough, trouble free outdoor plant that can grow to a height of between 100 and 150 cm with an eventual spread of 100 cm. This hardy shrub is ideal for beginners or less experienced gardeners. It is best suited growing in moist well draining soil. It is the perfect plant for adding interest in areas of the garden that receive partial to deep shade but will also grow in bright indirect sunlight too. ONGOING CARE - Minimal pruning is needed as Skimmia's have a naturally tidy and compact growing habit. Prune in late Spring or Summer while the plant is actively growing. You can also prune immediately after flowering to shape and trim. Remove unwanted stems cutting back well inside the leaf canopy to hide the cut ends.
