Poppy 'Peony Flowered Mixed' is a great mix of stunning colours, with a variety of red, burgundy, white and pink blooms. The double blooms can reach up to 4in in diameter, and contrast well against the grey-green leaves. A hardy annual mix that is easy to raise and care for, well suited to the UK climate, a perfect addition to cottage gardens and even makes a great cut flower. Sow March to April or August to September for overwintering. Optimum Germination Temperature: 60-65F (15-18C). Sowing Depth: 1/16 Inch (1.5mm). Seed should be sown outdoors where it is to flower in spring or autumn and thinned out to 12in (30cm) apart. Space the plants 30cm (12in) apart in full sun in ordinary garden soil. Caution: harmful if eaten. Culinary note: All poppies are poisonous. However, the seeds produced by somniferum and paeoniflorum poppies only can be eaten. Typically, they are used in bakery recipes.
