Photinia 'Red Robin' is the best-known of its species, celebrated for its vibrant scarlet young foliage in spring. The glossy new leaves and crimson stems create a striking contrast with the mature green foliage below, producing an eye-catching two-tone effect. In spring, this foliage is further enhanced by rounded clusters of creamy white flowers. This popular evergreen shrub is versatile, making it perfect for adding a splash of spring color to woodland areas and shrubberies or growing as a low-maintenance specimen plant. The colorful RHS AGM variety also tolerates hard pruning, making it a useful evergreen hedge. In frost-prone areas, plant Photinia next to a warm wall or among other shrubs for protection.

Growing Information
Grow Photinia plants in a sunny or semi-shaded position in any moderately fertile, moist, well-drained soil. In frost-prone areas, plant Photinia next to a warm wall or in the shelter of other shrubs. Before planting, incorporate plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant Photinia shrubs at the same depth as they were in their pots. Backfill the planting hole and water well to settle the soil.
