Field Maple (Acer campestre) is a stocky, hardy variety perfect for creating a beautiful boundary hedge which lights up the garden in autumn with its lovely foliage colour. The leave form a solid covering throughout most of the year, acting as an effective screen for privacy and also filtering noise pollution from nearby roads. This native RHS AGM variety also provides a great habitat for wild birds. Easy to grow in most gardens and conditions, you can prune it to be as big or small as you like and then maintain with regular clipping to create a uniform, neat hedge. Supplied as 60 - 90cm bareroots. Planting Distance: 30 - 45 cm (12" - 18") or 4 plants per metre for a single line hedge. Grow acer trees in any moist, fertile, well drained soil in sun or dappled shade. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant at the same soil level as they were growing at the nursery, and water well to settle the soil. Water regularly throughout the growing season until acer trees are well established. Acers require little pruning other than to maintain their shape. Position: Full Sun/Partial Shade Height: Up to 12m when fully established Spread: Up to 8m when fully established Supplied as 1x Field Maple (Acer campestre) Hedging Bare Root Plants. Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary results. Image may be included for illustration of supply but can vary due to seasonality changes (e.g. deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months).
