Grow your own delicious potatoes in the garden with ‘Ratte’ seed potatoes, which will be ready to harvest from July to August. This classic second early French variety has been prized for over 70 years for its tasty tubers, which have a distinctive chestnut flavour. Potato 'Ratte' produces long, smooth skinned tubers with white skins and yellow, waxy flesh. This variety is ideal for boiling or steaming in its skins and boasts a much-loved quality of not disintegrating during cooking. ‘Ratte’ is easy to grow and care for, enjoying a sunny spot in which to develop. Height and spread: 60cm (24").Plant second early potato crops from March. Prior to planting, 'chit' the seed potatoes by setting them out in a cool, bright position (10C/ 50F) to allow them to sprout. Avoid planting in soil where potatoes have grown for two years in succession to reduce the risk of disease. Prepare the planting area in a sheltered position in full sun on moist well drained soil. Dig in plenty of well rotted manure. Plant potatoes in rows at a spacing of 37cm (15"). Rows should be set out 75cm (2', 6") apart. Place the seed potatoes into 10cm (4") deep trenches and backfill the soil to refill the trenches. When shoots reach 20cm (8"), mound up soil around the shoots leaving just a few cm showing. Repeat this process after a further 3 weeks.Position: Full SunHeight: Up to 60cm when fully establishedSpread: Up to 60cm when fully establishedSupplied as 1 x 2kg pack of Potato ‘Ratte’ seeds.Delivered with growing and care instructionsImages shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity.
