Blueberry 'Jersey' (Vaccinium corymbosum) is an early-flowering, mid-late season highbush blueberry that is particularly well-suited to colder gardens, making it one of the most reliable varieties. This hardy plant forms a tall, upright-growing deciduous shrub, reaching up to 1.8m (6ft) in height and 1.5m (5ft) in spread. Blueberry 'Jersey' produces high yields of medium-sized fruits from late July to August, extending the harvest season into late summer when combined with earlier cropping blueberries. Not only are these blueberries packed with health-boosting compounds, but the plants also make attractive features for acidic borders or large patio containers. In spring, they bear masses of sweetly scented creamy white flowers, followed by fiery crimson foliage in the autumn. Although self-fertile, 'Jersey' will produce its best crops when grown with another blueberry to increase pollination.
