A compact herbaceous perennial shrub noted for its large and distinctive foliage, the Tiarella ‘Sugar and Spice’ is a great option for low growing shrub beds, woodland garden displays or groundcover. The leaves are glossy, deeply lobed or cut and carry dark purple blotches along the central veins. In Spring stems appear above the foliage carrying conical clusters of lightly scented pink and white flowers from late Spring through to Summer. Plant in cool, moist, humus-rich, well-drained soils and keep in partial sun or full shade. Leaf colour dependent on exposure to sunlight. Keep soil cool through regular watering in warmer periods. Avoid waterlogging, especially during Winter. Requires a sheltered position and protection from cold and frost.
