Attracts pollinators | Attracts pollinators |
Colour | yellow |
Eventual growth height | 150mm |
Flowering period | Feb - March |
Latin name | Euonymus alatus Compactus |
Euonymus alatus compactus is like its larger cousins in form although it only grows to a height and spread of 150cm. It is, however, second to none for autumn colour. The green foliage turns to a cerise pink and then heats up to a glowing rosy-red in autumn, whilst the inconspicuous flowers from early summer develop into red-purple seed cases which open to spectacular bright orange. Plant this euonymus in moist but well drained soil in full sun with a southerly or westerly aspect in order to enjoy its resplendent late season colour.
