This greenhouse variety, 'Nimrod', boasts an impressive yield of 3-4 snack-sized fruits per node, thanks to its shorter internodes between each fruit cluster, ensuring a plentiful harvest! The cylindrical cucumbers feature thin, dark green skins and refreshing pale green flesh, prized for its crisp texture without any bitterness. 'Nimrod' is resistant to scab and displays some resistance to powdery mildew, offering enhanced reliability. Supplied as 1 x packet of 4 seeds.
Ideal for greenhouse cultivation, these compact and manageable plants are perfect for growing against supports, minimizing the risk of overwhelming your space. With a height of 3m (9') and a spread of 45cm (18"), 'Nimrod' cucumbers thrive in warm, humid greenhouse conditions with a minimum temperature of 15°C (60°F).
For indoor cropping, sow cucumber seeds from early March to April, or transplant them outdoors later in the season. Outdoor varieties can also be directly sown from May to June. Plant cucumber seeds sideways at a depth of 1cm (½") in 7.5cm (3") pots filled with free-draining, seed sowing compost. Maintain a temperature of 20°C (68°F) until germination, typically within 7-10 days, protecting emerging seedlings from direct sunlight to prevent scorching.
Once the cucumber plants are well-established, transplant them into a warm, humid greenhouse, spacing them at 2 plants per growbag or 45cm (18") apart. For outdoor varieties, gradually acclimate them to outdoor conditions over 7-10 days before transplanting into warm, well-drained soil enriched with humus in full sun, sheltered from winds. Space outdoor cucumbers in single rows, 90cm (36") apart, and water thoroughly until fully established.
