These are BARE ROOTED plants which can be planted from the end of October until May and will be dispatched as soon as the weather turns cold and they become dormant. The dispatch date depends on the Autumn temperature and varies from year to year. Gages are superior dessert plums, much sweeter with a rich honeyed flavour when grown in a warm sunny spot. Growing Details: Common Name: Gage Genus: Prunus Species: domestica Cultivar: 'Cambridge Gage' Skill Level: Beginner Exposure: Full sun Hardiness: Hardy Soil type: Well-drained/light, Dry Rootstock: St. Julien A, 4-5m Description: Partially sell fertile but crops at its best with the pollinators: Victoria, Czar or Opal. 'Cambridge Gage' is a popular variety, similar to the traditional 'Old Green Gage', with a very fine flavour. Single, cup-shaped white flowers appear in late spring, followed by yellow-green fruit with a superb, juicy flavour, which are ready for picking in early September. As with all trees from the prunus family, the leaves will start to appear autumnal and slightly shabby from mid July onwards. This is not a disease, but is mainly due to this years contrasting weather conditions and will not affect the performance of the tree. Pollination: It is partially self-fertile. For better fruiting plant a compatible partner: Czar, Merryweather, Mirabelle de Nancy, Opal, Oullins Golden Gage, Victoria
