This is the largest in our Professional Series woodturning lathes. It has all the features a serious woodturner would need for almost any woodturning project, large or small. Made almost entirely in cast iron, with the bed being particularly wide and well braced. Cast iron stand legs are included, providing a stable platform for the lathe. Vibration is virtually undetectable due to the mass of cast iron employed in the construction. The extension bed that comes with the lathe, can be mounted in any one of three positions. Either, on the end of the main bed to extend the distance between centres, on the leg of the stand to allow large diameter work, or on a mounting plate machined onto the side of the bed. This allows bowl turning with the headstock rotated to suit. The headstock can be slid along the length of the bed and rotated through 360° with indexing stops every 45°. The headstock spindle is driven through a 10-groove multi V belt with a choice of three ratios; this coupled with the variable speed function gives a very wide speed **** of 60 to 3,700 rpm. A remote control box with a magnetic back can be placed wherever you want and allows easy control. A forward and reverse direction switch is also fitted. The spindle has 24 indexing positions, held by a threaded stop pin. A separate spindle locking pin is provided, with a handy magnetic base. The lathe features an M33 x 3.5mm (ASR) spindle. All standard M33 x 3.5mm threaded chucks and fitments can be used as normal. The ASR spindle includes a safety groove. This is an additional safety feature designed to be used in conjunction with fitment with a matching ASR safety groove and a locking ring. This ar****ment ensures complete safety when the lathe is running in reverse and is not necessary for general turning.
