Astrantia major ‘Venice’ has deep ruby-red, almost burgundy, flower heads that look like pincushions. This plant grows well in cottage garden borders, as well as in moist soil near a woodland edge or a pond or stream. The richly coloured blooms have papery outer bracts that surround them, and they are great for cutting for a fresh or dried flower arrangement. Height: 75cm (30"). Spread: 45cm (18").
