Variety | Agapanthus |
Agapanthus ‘Double Diamond’ is a charming dwarf variety that uniquely produces double flowers. Ideal for small gardens, it can be planted along the front of borders or in patio containers. Growing to only 30 cm (12 in) in height, it won't overshadow neighbouring plants. This variety features crisp white, double trumpet-shaped blooms held aloft on sturdy stems above evergreen, strap-like foliage. Flowering from July to September, it adds valuable late-season colour while the strappy leaves provide attractive foliage texture throughout the year. This reliable perennial is notably drought-tolerant, thriving in hot, sunny locations. It has received the RHS Award of Garden Merit. Height: 30 cm (12 in) and Spread: 50 cm (20 in). Supplied as 1 x 9cm potted plant.
Growing Information
Grow Agapanthus in rich, fertile, well-drained soil in a sunny location. For patio containers, use a soil-based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Select a sunny or semi-shaded position with moist, well-drained soil, and incorporate some well-rotted manure or garden compost into the soil.
